Euclid’s fifth postulate claims that there exists only one configuration of straight lines that would be parallel to each other. This postulate built the foundation of geometry for hundreds of years. However Euclid forgot about one key issue: this postulate only applies to a twodimensional surface, like a piece of paper. Two lines drawn on a threedimensional plane, like a ball, that have the ball’s circumference, will never be parallel to each other. Because of this mistake a new field of methematics was formed - non-euclidean geometry.

I wanted to make a piece of artwork that would easily show this relation. I created an interactive installation where the audience could experience non-euclidean geometry themselves. The audience was able to pick a glass ball and glide it alongside a large format print of a series of lines and be able to see how the lines break when watched through the glass ball.
